It is rumor no more: Alex Morgan has officially signed with the Sounders Women. Like Hope Solo and Sydney Leroux before her, Morgan comes to the Sounders with a significant national team resume and ties to the region. Morgan, 22, has already scored 16 goals in 32 United States women's national team appearances. In Leroux and Morgan, the Sounders Women now have two of the best young strikers in the world.

"I am excited to play in a city that is so passionate about soccer," Morgan said in a press release. "The Sounders have been one of if not the best fan support in MLS. I can only imagine how Seattle fans would respond to having a full professional women’s team in the future."

Sounder at Heart first reported the rumors of her imminent signing on Friday. But speculation had been rampant well before then because of her dating Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Servando Carrasco and the WPS ceasing operations for the 2012 season.

The Sounders Women will play their home games at Starfire Sports Complex. The finalized scheduled, as well as season ticket information, will be announced on Tuesday. Morgan, Hope and Leroux are expected to suit up about eight times with the Sounders Women, as their national team schedule will pull them away a fair amount. Among their expected appearances are four home W-League games, three exhibitions and one road game.
