For MLS teams, these ratings are based on last season's performance. That is why the Galaxy are so high even though they lost their first game of the season. For Mexican teams, these ratings are based on their current season. The country rating I using is based on the current CCL results. I will update the MLS teams with this season's data once we get a few games in (I am working on a rolling rating, but that is still in the works).
I have ranked the clubs in MLS (I split out the Canadian MLS teams from the US teams) and the Mexican Primera Division. I did this to see how MLS teams compared to Mexican teams and also to see who is the best team in North America. I used regular season games, playoff games, and CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) games to create the ratings. I use a "country" rating that is generated based on how the US, Mexican, and Canadian teams do in the CCL. I also use a rating that is generated from how many wins and draws a teams has in the regular season, playoffs, and CCL. I combine these two ratings to get the final rating. The ratings are after the jump...
Please feel free to provide any feedback or comments. I am still trying to tweak the ratings and would appreciate your thoughts and comments.
