The Sounders U23 faced off against Vancouver White Caps U23 in the first soccer match held at Cheney stadium since it's renovation.
The starting lineup for your Sounders consisted of - GK- Doug Herrick, 3- Mark Lee,15- Anthony Arena, 20- DeAndre Yedlin, 6- Chris Brundage,10- Fernando Monge,13-Nick McCluskey,14- Luis Esteves,17- Sean Morris, 23- Sean Okoli, 8- Aodhan Quinn
White caps got on the board early in the 15th minute off a cross in the box, Sounders answered in the 39th minute with a shot from Luis Esteves from the middle of the box from about 10 yards out. Sean Okoli missed a shot just wide after successfully boxing out a defender to finish out the first half in a 1-1 tie.
Second half started and the Sounders took the 2-1 lead in the 47th minute off a rocket from Aodhan Quinn from about 20 yards out and at the top of the box. After a shaky start to the second half by the white caps back line that saw a few opportunities created off of steals in the the Caps final 3rd Sean Okoli was able to drive one past the keeper in the 53rd minute to bring the Sounders to a comfortable 3-1 lead. In the 73rd minute the White Caps got one back with a shot into the upper V of the net and then brought it level again with a header that was just wide of the out stretched goal keeper Herrick finishing the game in a 3-3 tie.
