On June 27th, the MLS Summer Transfer season officially started. When there wasn't an immediate signing made by the Sounders brass, everybody was up in arms, including Eddie Johnson, who likes to walk around arms swinging akin to Lisa Simpson on a warpath. "But Rome wasn't built in a day," the report is like to relate. Pish-posh, I say.
Presumably they were hot and heavy on Didier Drogba, but only because the Ivory Coastian (or côte d'Iviore'n if we're being fancy) called Adrian begging to play in the Rave Green. When Shanghai came a'callin' with their money bags and their promise of a Scrooge McDuck sized vault, all those plans went awry.
So, Sounders faithful, where does this leave us? Well, now we have the same exact team we had on June 26th. There's just something wrong with that. What position do the Sounders need to upgrade the most? Screw that rational talk. What I'm looking for here is which position do you, the fan who spends their hard earned money, their time, their emotions on this team we hold so dear, which position do you want the Sounders to target most?
For funsies I attached a poll. Everybody likes a poll. And after you've voted on that poll, how about you write a nice little comment saying which player you'd like in that position for which you just so recently voted. Then we can discuss and drool and be disappointed when they sign with Liverpool*. Because nobody likes Liverpool*.
*Feel free to make this the team you hate most, since it'll make my point that much more eloquent and make you like me more than you already do.
