Arlo as a National Broadcaster

I was reading on Stumptown some critiques of Arlo White. The complaints were that he talks to much and not enough about the game at hand.

I found this very odd since my impression has always been that his strong suits were that he did not talk as much as most announcers and the main reason he got away with talking less is he focused more on the game and players on the field.

I have not watched him much this year on NBC and with a partner. I am curious if people familiar with his work previously for the Sounders thinks he has changed his style at all (for better or worse). If yes why do you think it has changed? New employer? Having a partner? Being neutral? Other?
