Presumptive Sounder Mario Martinez Game Thread

Stay connected for news and updates

Though I don't believe there's been any official announcement, both Sigi Schmid and Adrian Hanauer have been quoted discussing the Mario Martinez loan deal as if it's a done deal. So we'll treat it that way for now. And currently the young winger is playing for Honduras against Spain in Olympic soccer, alongside other MLSers Roger Espinoza, Jerry Bengtson, and Andy Najar.

The match is all over the place. Telemundo, one of the various dedicated Olympic soccer channels, and streamed on NBCOlympics if you can prove you already pay for one of those other channels.

Spain, one of the pretournament favorites, have had an awful time of it so far with an opening round loss to Japan. And without giving away too many spoilers, I'll just say that this one started out pretty awful for them, too.

So let's watch and see if Martinez can uncork a 40 yarder to really ruin Spain's day.
