Seattle Sounders keepers are busy in the news today. Josh Ford, who once won the third keeper job over Bryan Meredith was activated from the short term injured list today. While he was only on the list from May 4th, his injury troubles go back to last year. With the news that Andrew Weber is out for 2-4 weeks Meredith will return to the starting lineup.

With keeper health having been such an issue for the Sounders, Sigi Schmid talked about Michael Gspurning's progress yesterday;

We’re trying to make sure that there’s not a set-back on the recovery from the injury. Today he worked with Tommy, and Tommy Dutra was very pleased with the work that he did. We’ll see. He’ll work again tomorrow, probably take Wednesday off, and come back and work Thursday-Friday. Then we’ll see. Probably by the end of this week we’ll have a much better feel overall for it and we hope he can return as soon as possible.

For the next couple weeks 2011 draftees Meredith and Ford will be between the pipes.
