We're about an hour from kickoff between the US Mens National Team and their bitter rivals to the south, the reigning Olympic soccer champions in Mexico. The game's airing at 5:00 PT on ESPN2 (Comcast 624, Direct TV 209) and ESPN3, as well as Univision (Direct TV 270).
Over the last few weeks, Landon Donovan and the boys weren't given an opportunity to prevent Mexico from taking the second-greatest prize in world soccer (in part due to their ineptitude in the qualifying rounds). As Grant Wahl noted yesterday, this game needs to serve as motivation for the states if they want to keep up with Mexico, a team that now looks poised to compete for the World Cup in Rio two years from now. This is a friendly, but don't expect anyone on the pitch to worry about how hard their tackles are.
