Let's face it, this goal wasn't something that needed to be animated.
This was a goal that most players should automatically finish. To me it was Brad Evan's run and cross that outshines Eddie Johnson's tap in. Even the flying karate kick into the corner flag was far from a memorable goal celebration. What caught my eye on this replay from the Sounders FC versus Vancouver Whitecaps match was the expression on EJ's face. Look at it and you will see what appears to be pure joy. Not only pure joy that you get from scoring a goal that puts a game in the bag, but also the pure joy one feels when they are happy about where they are at. The takeaway for me is that Eddie is happy in Seattle and most of us can agree that is an absolute great story that is still being written. EJ's path back to soccer is a good one and we are pretty lucky to be witness to it. How can you not enjoy the #BoomBoom?
Curious to hear if anyone interprets this moment the same or differently?
