As expected, Mario Martinez has been named to Honduras' roster for a pair of World Cup qualifiers on Sept. 7 and 11. As a result, the Seattle Sounders midfielder will miss at least the home game against Chivas USA on Sept. 8 and is probably questionable for the Sept. 15 game at the Portland Timbers.

The first of those games will be played in Cuba with the return leg being in Honduras. While Martinez should be able to make it back in time for the Sept. 15 game, it's unlikely he'll be capable of playing extended minutes after spending so much time in transit.

Martinez is coming off a strong showing with Honduras in the Olympics, where they were a surprise quarterfinalist. Martinez scored a goal in the quarterfinals loss to Brazil. He has previously received 17 senior team caps, including one in a recent friendly against Boca Juniors.

The Honduras team will have a decidedly MLS feel to it, with five others joining Martinez.
