The USWNT enters the single elimination round of the 2012 London Olympics at 6:30AM on NBC Sports Network against the New Zealand Ferns. The United States remained undefeated through group play, to earn their way into the quarterfinals. The Ferns are coming in as the third place finishers of group E. They lost tight 1-0 games to both Brazil and England. This game will not be a walk in the park. Especially if the US does not tighten up their defense. The US should be fairly well rested for this match, as they were able to play a rather easy second half against the North Koreans. Shannon Boxx will be available if needed for this game.

The USA holds an 8-1-0 all-time record against New Zealand. The most recent match against New Zealand took place this past February. The Ferns lead the match until Alex Morgan took the game in hand and scored two late goals to assure the come from behind win.

The winner of this match will face the winner of the Great Britain/Canada match on August 6th at 11:45 am PST.
