Excerpts from a script I was going to submit to Joe Roth at the Sounders End of Year Business Meeting*:
UNTITLED SOUNDERS MOVIE
The year is 2022.
Joe Roth, Adrian Hanauer, Drew Carey, and Paul Allen all have become billionaires just from the revenue cow the Seattle Sounders FC franchise has become in the 13 years of its MLS existence. After winning Supporters' Shields and MLS Cups annually , as well as CONCACAF Champions League Champions and Club World Cup champions, the might and power that the Sounders FO has become has successfully lobbied to allow their club team to enter the FIFA World Cup.
Sepp Blatter's love of money has also allowed Seattle to become the host of the 2022 World Cup, all games to be played at CenturyLink Field under the world's largest retractable awning*.) (*The technology for stadium-sized retractable awnings was invented by Seattle in 2019.) The Sounders go on to win the 2022 Cup, beating Germany by the score of 5-0. The scoreline was a disappointment to millions who took bet on the match around the world since Seattle was picked to win by at least 8. It is announced after the final match that FIFA is considering awarding all future World Cups to Seattle, much to the chagrin of the city of Portland.
From their new floating mega-yacht headquarters located in Puget Sound, Joe and Adrian finalize plans to make a major leap forward in the franchise's marketing: funding a manned mission to Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, in order to be the first sports franchise to have a luxury yacht sail the oceans of the distant satellite. Peter Vagenas is named the Titan moon yacht captain, and the boat is fully staffed by a crew of Yedlin Bots. 2.0 series - the series 1.0's were always a bit twitchy.
[*not really a script idea, but really part of a dream I had the other week. I should seek medical help.]
