Bring It Back Home - WeAreECS.com
Writers here are watching from the stands, the pressbox and from home. Watch the final Saturday match of Rivalry Week with us.
Passion will be bouncing through the stadium from section to section from stands to field. Seattle Sounders FC v Soccer Village USA is enough to get anyone excited for the game. It is still early to judge how good either team is, but on paper the Schakal are much better than the past two seasons, that may or may not mean that they are better than Seattle now. It is games that will determine that.
The play on the field will carry that passion, but players can not get caught up in what the referee calls or does not call. In stead the must focus on what they need to do to win. For Sigi Schmid's side that means pushing the ball wide and either forcing the opposing fullbacks to play further back or splitting the centerbacks. Players like Johnson, Zakuani, Neagle, Estrada and maybe even Martins are perfect for that plan. With Porter flooding the middle and Valeri's strong passing they will try to push up the middle. The Sounders two CMs and two CBs must limit the effectiveness of throughballs.
It is match day. It is the Cascadia Cup. It is time to bring it home.
