Anatomy of a Goal: How Sounders got caught chasing the ball

Stay connected for news and updates

MLSsoccer.com's Greg Lalas breaks down the goal the Sounders allowed, pointing out that there's plenty of blame to go around.

Following Saturday's loss, one of the hot debates was over who was really at fault for Davy Arnaud's goal. Liviu Bird did a good job breaking it down earlier, and MLSsoccer.com's Greg Lalas adds some more context with video.

The big takeaway from all this is that there's no shortage of blame to go around. Leo Gonzalez deserves blame for turning the ball over and not being in the best position. Andy Rose fails to really guard anyone. The two center backs don't really pressure the ball.

The good news is that the coaches surely saw the same thing and will be reminding the players of what not to do in similar situations. We can only hope this is more of an isolated incident.
