With few games over the next month the Seattle Sounders FC found a way to get Eriq Zavaleta more playing time. The forward/defender was loaned to the San Antonio Scorpions of the NASL for the next two weeks. With San Antonio the Indiana product will have the opportunity to play in two matches at the lower level.
San Antonio is struggling in their Spring Season going 2-4-2 -3 with a total of four matches left on their season. The Scorpions are probably more well known for their soccer stadium and nearly 7,000 attendee average. Zavaleta will be a roster option for matches against Tampa Bay and Edmonton
Zavaleta started the season practicing as a centerback, but when so many of Seattle's attackers went down his training time was spent up top. He earned six minutes against San Jose and started all five matches in the Reserve League scoring a goal.
His return is scheduled for June 23rd and thereby will miss only one MLS match while on his loan.
