While the Seattle Sounders may be finding plenty of ways to score without Fredy Montero, one area they are clearly lacking is in the Goal of the Week. Now 21 weeks in, the Sounders have not managed to win the award yet.
DeAndre Yedlin is nominated this week and while we "would never suggest stuffing the ballot box" this one is pretty deserving. It's not just that it was his first career MLS goal, it's that he volleyed it twice through traffic.
The first volley is good enough as he took it out of the air after Lamar Neagle's shot hit the post. But Yedlin's alertly following it up and then placing the header in between a pair of defenders is what really makes this a deserving candidate. And don't we all like to see a local boy make good? Would certainly be another cool feather in Yedlin's cap, too, to go along with the All-Star selection.
