"It feels great," Alonso told the media at today's practice. "I found out this morning and I'm very happy to be named to the All Star team."
He is joined by nine other inactive All Stars;
Donovan Ricketts (Portland Timbers), Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Jamison Olave (New York Red Bulls), George John (FC Dallas), Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers), Rodney Wallace (Portland Timbers), Osvaldo Alonso (Seattle Sounders FC), Juninho (LA Galaxy), Justin Mapp (Montreal Impact), Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake).
"I always play for the team, not myself," he said. "I try to do my thing on the pitch and if the All-Star comes, then I'm very happy to be an All-Star, but my goal is always to play good and give everything I have for my team."
