Entering the match they would lose Seattle Sounders FC was a single win short of their best first 16 match start in their short history. They would go onto to lose and the outcry and disappoint was strong. Comments on this site, Twitter, Facebook, pretty much everywhere that talks about the team, are trending to the negative as if the season is spiraling out of control.
It may be too early to look at the MLS Cup Playoff standings, but the Western Conference looks quite tight and Seattle is on the outside.

That's unfamiliar territory. It looks like Seattle has a very tough road to the Playoffs. Yes, there are games in hand, but for those games to matter most the team needs to win them.
"You check it out now and realize you're third from the bottom and and then you realize we have four games in hand on some of the teams, but like I said last week if you don't get results those games are going to start piling up and then you find yourself clawing out of a deep hole. It's not the position we want to be in," Brad Evans said after practice Monday. "Right now it's a little bit early I think. In the blink of an eye all teams are going to be square and even hopefully we're in the right position."
One way to look at that would be to equalize standings via Points Per Game. Seattle is not much better off in the West though. If things were in a single table, or the old Wild Card system existed the Sounders would be in position for the Playoffs.

Maybe good is a strong word, but certainly decent. Only four sides had more wins than the 7 Seattle has at this time back when they played only 16 games.
For many teams this would be a good season. But like attendance, the expectations of winning are set by a standard set here, in the Sound with little concern for the rest of the league. The regular season only exists for a segment of the fanbase as a prelude to the MLS Cup Playoffs. In that case a good season that misses the Playoffs because of geography would not be good enough.
Then again those teams at the top of the West are about to start playing each other more often than the East. So good may be good enough.
