In the RSL 4-0 thrashing of the Crew this past weekend, Federico Higuain took a yellow card in the 34th minute for leading with the helmet. In his defense, it was a solid tackle and he's new to the rule. The yellow landed him an accumulation suspension for the following game vs your Sounders in Columbus. He then managed a second yellow and thus red for dissent in extra time. He's an experienced player and should know better...and he did the Sounders no favors with that one. He is now also suspended for the Crew's game vs. Houston. The Dynamo, who are at 1.5 points per game, are one of only three teams in MLS against whom the Sounders hold only one game in hand. For perspective, the Sounders have 3 games in hand vs 6 teams and 4 games in hand vs. West-leading RSL. The Dynamo are a team that could potentially do well with those games in hand and make a run for the Supporters' Shield.
Some interesting facts about the Crew as noted in The Columbus Dispatch:
433: Minutes since a Crew player not named Higuain has scored. Now they will play 180+ more without him.
97: Number of MLS regular-season games since the Crew’s last 4-0 loss — on Sept. 28, 2010, at home game against Seattle.
