So this is my first Fan Post on Sounder At Heart. Hopefully this goes fairly well.
The Sounders are facing a Columbus Crew side that have lost 3 out of there last 5 games, however both of those wins in that span have been at home. The Sounders have won 4 of there last 5 and lost one, away at Houston.
In Seattle's last 5 games, they have only faced one team that was in a playoff position, the Timbers at home (1-0 win). Columbus has faced two teams in playoff position, New York (2-0 win at home) and RSL (4-0 loss away).
Both sides will be missing some key players. The Sounders will be missing their leading scorer Obafemi Martins, and midfielder Shalrie Joseph. However, both of the positions that those two play in are fairly easy to fill in, with Dempsey able to be a forward, and Carrasco or Alonso to play a defensive minded midfielder. Columbus' missing players are missing their top scorer Federico Higuain to suspension and starting goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum. Those two positions for Columbus will be tougher to fill, with Dominic Oduro possibly filling in for Higuain and Matt (good name!) Lampson filling in for Gruenebaum (gesundheit!).
I believe the Sounders can win. The Sounders a riding off of a big win at home against their big rival Portland. Missing Martins will be tough for the team, but Columbus is arguably a much easier opponent than a Portland side that has only lost 4 games this season, or 5 if they lost to RSL tonight.
I predict a 2-0 win for the Sounders, with Dempsey scoring his first goal for the club.
