Putting extra strain on our defenders is not the way to win games. Honestly, Yedlin needs help. He must have a RM in front that can track back and take away 1 vs 2 situations. Playing with this formation almost negates everything great that Yedlin can do. He is forced to stay back and when he does sprint forward there is no ball movement and no support.
Alonso just hasn't looked right in the 4-3-3. I love having a secondary DM but it pulls Ozzie into wider areas of the pitch and doesn't allow him to roam around that middle pocket right above the two CBs. Personally I think a 4-2-2-2 or 4-2-3-1 would be a better use of HB and Pineda. Deuce is always either A CAM or withdrawn CF in this case.
It was interesting to experiment with the 4-3-3 but I think we can all agree that it is putting the ball in the back of Frei's net too much. Stop the bleeding and go back to what works.
