Heads up, everyone: The MLS Fantasy season gets underway again on Wednesday, June 25. Montreal and Vancouver each get out of the post-World-Cup gate with a double game week, including their head-to-head matchup Wednesday night.
It would be wise to stock up on players from each squad, but don't forget to cast an eye toward the following week. In Round 17 Chicago, Chivas USA, and Toronto all play twice. Use your unlimited transfers wisely to set your self up for the upcoming two weeks.
If you were forward-thinking enough to make your additions early in the World Cup break, you've likely already benefited from price rises. As of Sunday morning, the following players have seen their value rise by $0.3:
GK: David Ousted, Vancouver
DF: Nick Hagglund, Toronto FC; Drew Moor, Colorado
MF: Erik Hurtado and Pedro Morales, Vancouver; Cristian Maidana, Philadelphia
FW: Bradley Wright-Phillips, New York; Jermain Defoe, TFC
Make your adds soon and you too might benefit from the last-minute additions by other fantasy players.
Take this with a grain of salt, but here are the players I added:
- Tesho Akindele, FC Dallas
- Steve Birnbaum, DC United
- Defoe and Hagglund, Toronto FC
- Hurtado and Morales, Vancouver Whitecaps
- Maidana, Philadelphia Union
- Harry Shipp, Chicago Fire
In particular, I am really loving the way Maidana has been playing in Philadelphia. The Union notched six goals in their last two matches before the break; the Argentine #10 was in the middle of it all with one goal and four assists.
Sounder at Heart league updates
In the SaH contributor head-to-head league, Friberg Tacos FC and FC Transparency stand atop the carnage at the de-facto halfway point of the season. In the classic league, Paul V's -Eternal- retook the top spot with a 60-point round before the World Cup break.
Best of luck to all players during the stretch run!
