Sounders would host US Open Cup Quarterfinal Match if they advance

Portland or Kansas City would travel to Tukwila to face Seattle Sounders FC.

US Soccer conducted the draw for the Quarterfinal Round of the 2014 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup today. Per their release if Seattle Sounders FC advance they will host the next match at Starfire. The two potential opponents are the Portland Timbers or Sporting Kansas City.

The July 9th hosting date is during the World Cup break and just five days before Seattle hosts the Timbers in MLS play. It is just after the July 5th league game at Vancouver. That could be whole lot of Cascadia action in just over a week. If Sporting advance it would be Seattle's opportunity to right the wrongs of 2012.

Tuesday night's 7:30 PM opponent would host if they won, but San Jose is coming to Starfire, so that's a bit unlikely.

If the New York Cosmos with loanee Jimmy Ockford advance they would host with Rochester or New England. The Cosmos need to beat Philly first.

The Fifth Round includes 12 MLS sides, 3 NASL teams and 1 USL Pro side. Every NASL team has a chance to host their Quarterfinal match.
