In a trade the netted Seattle Sounders FC another draft pick in 2014 Cordell Cato is joining the San Jose Earthquakes. The young Trinidad & Tobago forward is now with a rival. This minor move nets the club a low draft pick.

Cato has been in camp and playing with the Earthquakes since the midpoint of preseason. He is not a regular with them, but a player that they seem to hope to develop after things turned sour in Seattle for various reasons.

Sounders FC's draft position in 2014 is a bit up in the air due to conditional picks given away during the acquisition of Martinez and Hahnemann.

Several non-roster players are still possible signees. Seattle is currently roster compliant, but open to other acquisitions or trades. An international transfer actually has until early May to be finalized, while the Playoff compliance date is in September.

There is no official word on the status of Sodade, Fairclough, Lund or Bowen at this time.
