'No Truth' to Didier Drogba rumors, MLS source tells ESPN

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

We may want to put those dreams of a Oba Martins-Drogba attack to bed ... for now.

If you were like me, you probably missed the wet-blanket Tweet sent out by the eminently reliable Jeff Carlisle about rumors of Didier Drogba potentially coming to the Seattle Sounders.

"No truth," is obviously pretty damning. While it's worth pointing out that MLS also forcefully denied rumors that they were preparing to buy Chivas USA about nine months ago -- so this is hardly the final word -- I do think it's at least a pretty strong indication that no move is imminent.

On the plus side, we can at least stop trying to figure how the Sounders were even going to find a way to fit Drogba on a roster that was seemingly already pretty full or what rules the team was going to have to skirt in order to make it possible. Then again, maybe this is all a smokescreen...
