Sigi Declines Crew's Offer

Columbus Crew Coach Sigi Schmid is one step closer to joining the Sounders FC staff. News broke today that Sigi declined the 2009 contract drawn up by the Crew management, making him an unrestricted free agent!

I have to say, I certainly wouldn't mind having last years MLS Cup winning manager in the Emerald City's drivers seat!

If he joins Seattle he will already have a few ties with the team, having just recently coached midfielder Brad Evans and years back coaching Chris Henderson at UCLA. Chris Henderson expressed his admiration for the Coach in a recent interview.

"He finds a way to work on each individual and their character to try to maximize their talents as a team," Henderson said this week. "He just has a way of getting the best out of players. I think he has a great eye for talent. He's very good at scouting players. There aren't many coaches in this country who know more players."
