On this St. Patrick's Day, you better have worn the Rave Green. That scarf made it easy, and the weather made it necessary.
First, you may have seen Jose's projected lineups, I have a slight addition/adjustment to what he's done.
That would be that Zakuani if a starter will be on the left. Whichever of Nyassi, Le Toux and Zakuani that doesn't start will get the one of the substitute slots. For the other four look to the Evan Brown or Zach Scott, for if Sturgis doesn't start they won't use him at all. Ianni or Wahl probably get a spot on the bench, as does Ben Dragovan.
For that final spot I full expect Roger Levesque. That would put them with two players at every position but Keeper.
Word has it that Juan Pablo Angel says that he scored on Keller in the Premiership. At least Angel remembers it and Kasey does not. May 2 2004. Angel had 4 shots, 2 on goal, one that reached net in a 1-0 win for Villa. Angel came on in the 45th minute in 24 Aug 2002 with 5 shots, 4 on goal, but held without a brace in the 'Spurs 1-0 win. Keller and Angel lead their teams to a draw, that was only obtained by JPA scoring on a 90' penalty on 29 Dec 2001.
That's some decent history for two players now in MLS, nearly 180 minutes and the Striker could be called the winner in the past.
If Scott and Kandji start it would be a rematch for the two. Regardless of Scott starting, Kandji will try and show that he has finally mastered the Sounders, something for which he has struggled the past two years.
Kandji had a goal Sept 13, 2008 when Scott played 90 and Le Toux also scored. He did not score on May 18th though, when Scott played 90 and Le Toux netted another. Remember as well the 2007 USL Championship where Golden Boots Kandji was held scoreless and frustrated. Sadly the USL archive is incomplete and finding these match reports can be a struggle at times. Boo to the Sounders for scrubbing their USL history.
Wear any and all Sounders gear on Thursday!
