This is not a soccer post.
Very much more important than that. Read on if you'd like.
Longtime readers may have noticed that my formerly frequent posting (over 7 a week in Feb/Mar) turned into a trickle for a while and then got back up to probably an average of just under five currently. I tend to focus on quality, but its more than that.
If you are in the Greater Puget Sound, and are free on Thursday the 11th at 7PM for a few hours, I could use your help. Like many in America, my family has been struck by cancer. In this case my mother-in-law, who is also my wife's best friend. Well, there are some medical related expenses that are pushing us a little more than we can handle as a greater family, and so we are having an event.
Here is the email my wife has sent out.
Hi Friends & Family,
Please join us in helping my mother, Cathy Lewis, cope with the financial burdens brought on by her recent diagnosis of lung cancer. Cathy never smoked and was healthy until diagnosed suddenly with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer in Feb. 2009.
As a family maternity nurse who has worked over 33 years at Evergreen Hospital, Cathy has taken care of many patients and it is quite new to her to instead be the patient. At the moment, getting through this battle is Cathy's number one goal. The intent of this fundraiser is to ease financial concerns so she can focus on this important healing time and hopefully get back to work and quilting soon! So we ask you to help us in raising money for the Cathy Lewis Medical Fund by attending the below event.
Come to PREVIEW night at the Renton Civic Theater on Thursday, June 11th at 7:00 P.M. Tickets will be $20.00 each for the musical, "The All Night Strut!" and all net proceeds on June 11th will go towards Cathy's Medical Fund. Please feel free to give me a call at the below number for any questions. We have only 2 weeks until the show, so please help us make this successful by joining us!
The All Night Strut!
From coast to coast, in dance clubs, Broadway shows, and major motion pictures, folks young and old are rediscovering the Lindy Hop, the Shag and the Tango. Yes, Swing’s the Thing! And nowhere more than in this classy, sassy musical celebration of the 1930s and ‘40s. The All Night Strut! struts it stuff in a two act bonanza that carries us through the Depression, World War ll and the post war boom. From the funky jive of Harlem to the sophisticated elegance of El Morocco and the romance of the Stage Door Canteen, this is an evening filled with jazz, blues, bebop and classic song standards that thrill the heart, tickle the funny bone and raise the rafters, by such legendary songwriters as Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins. An international hit, The All Night Strut! is a slick slice of yesteryear with sublime music and unbeatable energy that’s perfect for the new generation of Swing fans as well as die-hard devotees!
I left off the physical address and phone number, but you can see it at the facebook events page, or you can email me with other questions. Our family has been great, but sometimes we need to reach out for help.
But you can't receive help without asking. Part of our philosophy to life is to give when you receive and so this is a time when I am asking, but through the generosity of the Renton Civic Theater we should leave you with an experience.
Sorry for what will be taken as a bit of a downer. After tonight's win pathetic performance by the Americans I will be back to soccer and generic stuff concerning living here in the Sound. I hope to have some player news, as well as the preview of the upcoming road match.
Thank you
