I'll have more about last night's game a little later, because that was way too much fun to spend only one post on. But as I was looking for game video I came across this one, apparently filmed last night.
Curious. Was this edited to make Seattle fans look like USMNT ignorami? Or do we (meaning Seattle fans) really not care about the US Men? Will we start caring more when they call up...um...let's see...not many options... Let's say Brad Evans? (Or maybe Kasey Keller again? Not that I think Tim Howard is in any danger of losing his starting position any time soon.)
I've been watching the US Men every chance I get since...oh...maybe a couple of years. It really doesn't take long to get past the, "They're not at the level of England/France/Italy/Brazil" and recognize the fun of supporting your own.
And the guy's right. With World Cup qualifiers underway (in which we're doing quite well, and let's not get into the "how much does CONCACAF suck?" discussion right now) they do need our support.
(Although I am not oarticularly amused by the Landon Donovan comments.)
Quick. How many USMNT players can you name off the top of your head?
P.S. If you're looking for a reason to get excited about the USMNT, our USA World Cup blog is a lot of fun. They liveblog all of the games, and it's like being in a room full of standup comics. If you don't fall off your chair lauging at least once, I'll give you your money back.
