I believe I have found the solution to our making-the-playoff woes. The burden here lies solely and completely on the broad shoulders of Mike and Yamsmos over at GoSounders.com.
Why do I say that? Just take a look at what they posted before the beginning of the weekend's matches:
Alright Sounders Fans… besides rooting for the Rave Green to walk away from Gillette Stadium with 3 points, here are the results you are hoping for:
Columbus over Los Angeles
Kansas City over Colorado
FC Dallas over Real Salt Lake
Chicago Fire over Toronto FC
New York Red Bulls over Chivas USA
San Jose over DC United (on sunday)
(For the record, that last section, starting with "Columbus over LA," was all done with bullet points. That is important.)
Now let's take a look at the results. Los Angeles lost, Colorado drew, Salt Lake lost, Toronto drew, Chivas drew and DC United lost. Or, in other words, nobody listed on the righthand side of the post won. The best anybody got was a draw.
Coincidence? I think not. The only place they screwed up was in NOT listing the Seattle-New England game as a bullet point. (C'mon, gents, do you think the gods and goddesses of the bullet points can read your minds?)
There are three more weeks in the season, and I believe you gentlemen now know what is expected of you. So go out there and make us proud.
(Oh, and Mike? Yamsmos? I think this goes without saying, but remember: You must use this power only for good.)
