For those in need of some non-Sounders soccer to take a break from the post-loss malaise, the US Women are currently playing in the Gold Cup third place match versus Costa Rica. After losing to Mexico this weekend, the US must now win this third place game and then win a home-and-home playoff versus Italy later this month to avoid missing the World Cup for the first time in our history. The US is the dominant nation in women's soccer, and not making the Cup would be like Brazil missing the World Cup on the men's side.

The match is currently on ESPN2, or on concacaf.tv with free registration.

Hope Solo is out for this tournament after shoulder surgery, but Spokane's Amy LePeilbet is in at center back.
