Today we find out what TechFit is

Tighter is better?
Tighter is better?

When you saw the pic of the new Shale Secondary kit we had a few questions. Most concerned the straps, but a few about the colors, and the new TechFit construction. Here's what Adidas answers were to those questions.

What are the colors of the secondary kit?

Dark Shale/Rave Green

What is TechFit?

    - For this first time ever, Sounders players will have the option of wearing adidas TECHFIT PowerWeb uniforms on the pitch in 2011.

-Until recently, TECHFIT PowerWeb has been more commonly worn under a player’s uniform as compression apparel.

-The new Sounders uniforms offer TECHFIT built into the actual jersey giving players the benefits of TECHFIT in a single layer.

-TECHFIT PowerWeb is a cutting edge athletic apparel technology that improves muscular endurance and responsiveness, and reduces muscle vibration, ultimately maximizing the athlete’s performance.

-The Sounders’ TECHFIT jersey will retail for $150

-The Chicago Fire, D.C. United and LA Galaxy debuted adidas TECHFIT PowerWeb uniforms in 2010.  Additionally Toronto FC will wear TECHFIT in 2011.

Will the 2011 Electricity third kit be TechFit as well?

No.  The third kit will be adidas Formation, which is engineered to move naturally with the athlete’s body resulting in an ideal fit and comfort while in motion.

So the coloration seems to be from a lighting effect and not by design. I think it is notable that it is a player OPTION. It makes me think that David Beckham probably took that option. Sure, it is marketing speak, but I like that Sounders are one of the teams that are exploring this. Also seems notable that the "haves" of the league have almost all moved to this optoin.
