Offense: Fredy Montero’s game revolves around getting the ball with a bit of space and opportunity. When this happens he scores, and often the Sounders win. He needs to work on timing his runs, as well as communication with his the other Freddie. His vision for other teammates leads him to generate assists as well. At this time he is probably the strongest Sounder at putting a free kick on frame, even if the sample size is tiny.

Defense: No. He just doesn’t do it that often, and even when he does, he’s prone to a gaff. But he’s a Forward by nature, so to expect more is not realistic. Recently he has shown more of a willingness to harry the opposing backline trying to force a bad pass.

What you Love: Five Minutes of Brilliant. In basically any match he can give you those five minutes where you know he’s so much better than this league.
What you Hate: The remaining minutes he’s on the pitch. Not quite a flopper, he does roll on the ground too much. He also doesn’t make strong runs often, and is regularly critiqued for being lazy.

What to expect in the second half: If the Sounders make a strong run he could put up Golden Boot level numbers. Considering that his ability to score will get him that Euro contract he desires, he better start doing it at an obscene level.
