We've kind of ignored this story over here, but figured it was worth mentioning since Bruce Arena made it official today that no Sounders would be selected to the All-Star team that will play against Manchester United on July 27.
The reason for the omission is actually pretty straight-forward: Any Sounders picked would be unavailable because of the CONCACAF Champions League game against Metapan is scheduled for the same day.
Basically my question to you is: Do you care? I find All-Star games, generally speaking, to be total wastes of time at worst and not-so-clever distractions at best. Whether Arena picks any Sounders, that couldn't play anyway, really is a nonissue to me (and why I haven't written about it before now).
I suppose there's a bit more of an issue with the timing of the match, which basically was built around ManU's availability. Going along with our #Trophiesnotfriendlies theme, though, I'm sure you can guess where we come down on this issue as well.
