This might be the 3rd biggest match in the team's short history (the win over DC United to take the Open Cup, and the away game against Houston in the playoffs were bigger). Oddly, all happen on the road. But this road game won't have quite the anti-Sounders attitude of even a normal MLS game, as Jeremiah pointed out in his preview.
In this quest for trophies this game though is not a must win. But results still matter.
Here's an abbreviated edition of the Keys to the Game;
One Goal Changes Everything - with theAway Goal rule in effect if the Sounders score the game will essentially be won. If Metapan scores than things get dicey with Extra Time and PKs being possible. This leads to Key 2.
Pushing up to score early - I expect both sides to do it, and this should lead to a game of back and forth. If FSC doesn't screw up the broadcast this will be a fun one to watch.
Adapting to Conditions - With a wet forecast, long grass, and an old physical opponent the Sounders will face a match like they have never played before. They must adapt quickly.
Jeremiah and Carlos are at LTD in Fremont for this one. I'm at Fado.
There is no radio.
The lineup card should be right for both teams, big surprise is Jose Gonzalez getting the start over Alfaro for Metapan.
Tonight, FSC Sounders attempt to make it El Sounderdor.
