The Sounders' CCL schedule is starting to come into focus as it has been announced that the Sounders will travel to Honduras to play Marathon Aug. 19 and then host Mexican side Monterrey Aug. 25.
Tickets will go on sale Monday, according to @Arlo White (we'll update when we get the official release).
The games come at as a convenient time as could reasonably be hoped. The Sounders' only break in their MLS schedule comes between Aug. 14-28. Even more conveniently, their Aug. 14 match is in Southern California against Chivas USA, chopping about three hours of the travel time to Honduras. The Aug. 28 match is at home against Chicago.
The Sounders have already grown accustomed to fixture congestion, and this seems to have worked out as conveniently as could be hoped.
The other team in the Sounders CCL group is Costa Rican side Saprissa. Assuming they fill the Round 3 slot of the group stage, that game will be Sept. 14-16. Assuming the final three rounds play out in the same order, the Sounders would host Marathon Sept. 21-23, visit Monterrey Sept. 28-30 and close out group play by playing Saprissa Oct. 19-21.
