The Sounders' backs are against the wall, and even a victory could leave them with a best-case scenario that involves advancing on goal-differential.
With that in mind, we put tonight's projected lineup in our readers' hands. This is what you came up with: Go young.
You want to see Mike Fucito, Miguel Montano and Michael Seamon. Many of you would like to see Alvaro Fernandez at center-mid (although we put him at right mid because you also wanted to see Nathan Sturgis).
We can rest assured we got the back five right, with Taylor Graham, Tyrone Marshall, Tyson Wahl and Zach Scott playing in front of Terry Boss all but certain.
For the Monterrey lineup, we just went with the squad we projected last time. No idea if that will be even close.
The Sounders can stay alive with a tie combined with a Marathon victory. They will remain breathing, although barely, if they tie and Marathon-Saprissa also tie (although the Sounders' only hope at that point would be for Monterrey to win out and for the Sounders to beat Saprissa on goal-differential).
A victory would actually make advancement plausible, although the fact that the Sounders will likely be using a B team in a country where MLS clubs just don't get three points makes that seem very unlikely.
