Match Day Quick Reference Card, Sounders vs. Marathon

sounders vs. marathon-2

As you should know, this game is really about pride for the Sounders. They are currently without a point in CCL competition and have already been eliminated from advancement. Unfortunately, their two most winnable games are their next two.

We're expecting to see a lineup of mostly youngsters and reserves tonight. We just went with the same lineup we predicted last week, but I think the consensus is that we'd like to see Alvaro Fernandez at CM and Mike Fucito at RW. We may also get another look at David Estrada.

Unless there's a massive walkup, this will be the lowest attended match at Qwest during the MLS era. Only about 10,000 tickets have been sold, and it's unlikely we'll even get to 15,000. Can't blame anyone for not going, being as this is essentially a friendly against a team no one really has any interest in seeing.

That said, it's a competitive match against an international opponent. It would definitely be nice to win this one. More importantly, though, it will be good to see what some of our youngsters can do. Marathon, after all, is still playing for a spot in the quarterfinals so this is a legitimate test.
