Cruz plays as a centerback and would theoretically drop into the suddenly rather deep CB pecking order somewhere around Ianni and Graham. He's scored a decent number of goals for SMU, presumably coming forward on set pieces. That's something the Sounders need, as their best CB on set pieces was probably Tyrone Marshall, who's now plying his trade in Colorado.
