While still a ways off from being able to announce a new signing, Seattle Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer confirmed reports that the team is pursuing Costa Rican international Heiner Mora. Hanauer also said the team would be looking at the 27-year-old as a right back, although Mora has played several positions during his 18 appearances with the national team.
"He is definitely one of several right backs in whom we are interested," Hanauer wrote in an email. He stressed that the team is also exploring several other options.
Hanauer has made similar comments to Joshua Mayers of the Seattle Times, although his more recent statements come on the heels of comments Mora and Saprissa's president made that an offer was already on the table. Mora's exact status is a bit hard to figure out, as various reports have said he is only on loan to Saprissa from another fellow Costra Rican club Santos de Guápiles. MLS-Rumors first broke the news that the Sounders were interested in Mora back on Nov. 28.
