Major Link Soccer - My Blogpost for a Goal!

It's Monday morning in Sounders land and once again fans of the team are filled with mixed emotions. The Seattle Sounders put up an impressive display against the Houston Dynamo on Friday, but were unlucky to come away with a 1-1 draw. The Sounders put up plenty of quality chances on goal and were unlucky in a couple of calls. The Dynamo were lucky to walk out of Seattle with a point. You can see photos of the action as well as highlights online. The reserves also played this weekend and absolutely destroyed Gonzaga University with a score of 7-0. Although Michael Fucito didn't play in the reserve game you can see him in a photo of the pregame practice. Hopefully, that's a sign his recovery is close to complete.

Manchester United to Play MLS All-Stars: Manchester United will the opponent in the MLS all-star game for the second straight year. The all-star game will be held at Red Bull Arena on July 27th, 2011. Odds are that Manchester United will be in Seattle to play in a friendly against the Sounders either July 20th or 21st. Manchester United is holding a press conference on Tuesday at Red Bull Arena where they are expected to announce the dates and opponents for their North American tour.

More after the jump:

Local Boy Does Good: It's an inspiring story. After years of hard work a local boy comes home to Seattle and absolutely dominates in a game attended by friends and family. Of course the local boy is Tally Hall and the team he dominated was the Seattle Sounders. Hall's quick decisions and reactions saves kept Houston in the game and secured them a point in a tough game. Great work Hall and now go dominate the Red Bulls next Saturday!

USMNT Draws Argentina: The US Men's National Team played an exciting friendly game against one of the best sides in the world this Saturday. Good defensive work and key saves by Tim Howard kept the game close after a late 1st half goal by Argentina. Bob Bradley brought in youngsters Juan Agudelo and Timothy Chandler at the half. Agudelo would score his 2nd goal in three games with national team off a dangerous free kick by Landon Donovan, and a header by Carlos Bocanegra. Steve Davis has player ratings from the game.

Richardson Plays in Reserve Game: A new face popped up at the Sounders reserve game this weekend. Gregory Richardson started and played 60 minutes up top for the Sounders. Richardson is a Guyanese striker currently playing for the Carolina RailHawks. He's a smaller, quicker striker who played one game for the Colorado Rapids before moving to the USL. Prior to that the 28-year old has played for Guyana National Team and a collection of clubs in the Caribbean. The Sounders reserves play the San Jose Earthquakes reserves next Sunday in San Jose.

Salgado Cleared: Number #1 overall draft pick Omar Salgado was cleared by FIFA on Friday to play in MLS matches. Salgado will add some much needed depth to the Vancouver Whitecaps front line. He'll be needed as current Caps target man and designated player Eric Hassli seems to have a bit of a temper and a penchant for picking up cards. He will be serving a one game suspension for a red card picked up this weekend. Unfortunately for the Caps, Salgado was selected by the U.S. U-20 team and will likely miss the Caps next game against Kansas City on April 2nd, 2011.

Newsflash! RSL is Damn Good: Real Salt Lake was picked by almost all commentators as the strongest team entering into the 2011 season. Their are living up to the hype. RSL absolutely dominated the LA Galaxy in an impressive 4-1 win at Rio Tinto Stadium.

English Major Writes Game Recap: The Colorado Rapids defeated Chivas USA 1-0 over the weekend. More interesting than the game was the recap by Bulldog Ben at Burgundy Wave which was done in Iambic Pentameter. I sense the presence of another English Major looking for ways to channel the bard. To which I respond: A goal! A goal! My blogpost for a goal!
