Preseason Gamethread: Seattle Sounders v Portland Timbers in Cascadia Summit

No matter who fills the shirt, they are still just Timbers
No matter who fills the shirt, they are still just Timbers

This is an odd sort of game. Is it really just training when it is against the greatest rival this team has? Is the point as Sigi has said to win? Or is the point as Sigi has said to stretch some guys to 70-90 minutes for the first time with just over a week until First Kick and the Los Angeles Galaxy?

Were you really all that disappointed that the Portland Timbers beat the Seattle Sounders in last year's Community Shield? Or were you more concerned with the team playing well heading into the home opener which they won?

In the regular season I would babble about keys to the game, link back to stories from the week. This is preseason, but preseason with video and fans, thousands of fans.

The game will be streamed at 7:15PM Pacific on with Arlo having one half as play-by-play.

It should be expected that Seattle sends out its First XI to open the game.

Portland still doesn't know who their First XI are and so that will be updated when it is announced. I'll update their lineup when it is public.

Cooper Perlaza
Zizzo Hall
Lowry Jewsbury
Wallace Purdy
Goldthwaite Brunner

In the second half pay particular attention to Michael Tetteh, O'Brian White and Mike Fucito. At the end of the weekend we'll do projected Tools Ratings for them.

At the end of the day I want a win, but certainly not as bad as I do against the Galaxy or New York Red Bulls in two weeks time. This is not for a trophy.

But it's still Portland.
