Seattle Sounders v Sporting KC - Gamethread

Seattle Sounders Coach Sigi Schmid hopes to be drier and happier this week.
Seattle Sounders Coach Sigi Schmid hopes to be drier and happier this week.

On a Saturday Night when the Rapture did not happen, the Seattle Sounders will look to push Sporting Kansas City even further down the MLS standings. Seattle sits at 14 points in 11 games played for 5th in the West, 7th overall while the Sporks have 4 pts. in 7 games and are 9th in the East and 18th due primarily to their long road trip to start the season. Seattle has 8 points in their last five vs. 1 pt. in five for KC.

Both teams have significant players coming off of injury and several should at least make appearances. For Sporting KC they look for the return of Omar Bravo, if even in a substitution role, and Ryan Smith who could start. The Rave Green hope to have at least one of Mauro Rolales, Brad Evans and Erik Friberg return to the pitch. Peter Vermes will continue to use his 4-3-3 which will push play up and down. With their ability to put up shots and goals Seattle's defense should get tested by the likes of Kei Kamara and Teal Bunbury. The Sounders offense will be led by Fredy Montero and Alvaro Fernandez as the young South American DPs have to carry the load due to injuries and poor form from the rest of the offense.

Today's game is on KONG 6/16/106 and KIRO 97.3 FM at 7PM
