As we've been saying, the starting lineup for Wednesday's match between the Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas is a bit of a crap shoot. There are injury concerns, there's the fact that both teams are in the middle of playing three matches in about a week and there's the ever-changing lineup decisions of Sigi Schmid. So, take this projection with a grain of salt.
We do expect Sigi to go back to the diamond midfield, as that seems to be the preferred set up now that there's so little speed available. Mauro Rosales seems to be getting back to full health and isn't even listed on the injured list, so we think he'll be back on top of the diamond. Erik Friberg seems to be a solid bet to return this week as well, so we put him on the right side. We expect to see Nate Jaqua back at target forward, but wouldn't be shocked if it's someone else.
As for the defense, it seems like it's Patrick Ianni's turn in the rotation, but who knows? I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see any combination of players at center back. Tyson Wahl seems to be the starter at left back now, and with Eric Alexander expected to start as the right mid for FC Dallas, that seems like a reasonable match up.
For FC Dallas, there was a bit of back and forth over Jackson Goncalves' status, but it looks like he'll be playing. That likely means a 4-4-2 set up with Fabian Castillo and Marvin Chavez at forward, Brek Shea at the left mid spot and Andrew Jacobson and Daniel Hernandez in the middle.
