Transfer Season For Seattle Sounders Is Ridiculous

New, 38 comments

UPDATE: Just got word from a Sounders official that reports of Lucas Neill agreeing to terms with the Sounders are "inaccurate." - Jeremiah

Things are getting busy for those who try to track Seattle Sounders transfer rumors. Most of the names attached are quite pricey, gunning for that final Designated Player slot, or at least a significant cap hit augmented with Allocation Dollars. The majority of players connected are of the attacking variety, which would fit a team need, but there of course is a keeper and even a centerback connected.

Just yesterday there were updates to the Djibril Cisse mutterings, to the Lucas Neill attachment, and even a Spanish Division 2 striker (Javi Guerra) was mentioned as Seattle having interest. There are the numerous trialists, and even one we know will come (Mrisho Ngassa). Additionally, is the linking of local Marcus Hahnemann to become the next Kasey Keller.

What seems like ages ago, was the mention of Diego Forlan and the Seattle team as if it could be reality. Frankly, this is not silly season, but a season of the absurd and the ridiculous. If if these names are going to be attached, why not others?

Seattle needs a keeper of the future? Why not someone who covers wide area and strikes fear in the opposition for getting too close? Why not Rainbows on Fire?

The fill-in for Steve Zakuani's absence is right in front of us as well. Someone with the ability to pop-up in unusual places, speedy, and gifted with not just humor but the ability to help you out off the pitch. Towel Ninjas.

Depth a right back is a necessary addition as well. Something that can bound up and down the flanks, leaping into action, slicing through the static defense of the opponents. Old Fashioned Shaving Bunnies.

Color commentator for Arlo White? Nothing short of a Rock and Roll Falcon could make him better.

This is the Seattle Sounders and they shouldn't stop at good enough. Because at Royal Brougham Park, Good isn't good enough and transfer season is getting RiDQulous.
