After a stunning win by the Richmond Kickers, a strong performance by FC Dallas, and giant middle finger by Hans Backe of New York Red Bulls the Semifinals of the US Open Cup are almost decided. There's just this one game between the Seattle Sounders and Los Angeles Galaxy. While most will see the Galaxy as the nemesis of these boys in Rave Green, in the Open Cup it is Seattle that is better. A scheduling quirk has it quite likely that Bruce Arena can play his best players, maybe even all three of their DPs - Juan Pablo Angel, Landon Donovan and David Beckham may be in the 18 in tiny little Starfire Stadium. There's a reason you feel like LA is the team to beat, because over the 2.5 seasons of the MLS Sounders only the Galaxy have more points in all-competitions (MLS, MLS Cup Playoffs, US Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League). How many more? Three; 164 to 161.
For Sigi Schmid he must juggle the lineup. With games bracketing this one there will be a few players who can't go, a few that should be saved and some that will be pushed a little harder. While Seattle's Reserves are quite strong at their level, tonight may be the Open Cup match where they are subs, and they could have a chance at featuring against the Colorado Rapids. A win means that Seattle hosts FC Dallas in their 5th straight semi-final in Open Cup competition. A loss and dreams of multiple trophies ends.

- Rapid Transitions
- Use Familiarity with Pitch
- Don't Foul Cheaply in Threatening Areas
- Minimize Mystique of Galaxy
Harder to judge than ever due to the lineup changes for both sides
