With confirmation that the Seattle Sounders' U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal against the Los Angeles Galaxy has been moved to July 13, we now know that tickets will go on sale Wednesday. The box offices at Starfire Sports Complex and CenturyLink Field, as well as the online ticket seller who will charge you as much in handling fees as the actual ticket, will starting selling at 10 a.m.
Tickets for the third-round match sold out, and I would absolutely expect these tickets to sell out reasonably quickly, as well. There has not yet been any word as to whether or not ECS will distributed tickets, although they did have them for the last game.
Historically, the Galaxy have not always treated the Open Cup with the amount of respect you'd like to see from one of MLS's most storied franchises. In last year's quarterfinal loss to the Sounders, the Galaxy used a team of mostly reserves and afterward Bruce Arena seemed to indicate that he found the tournament to be more of a distraction than anything else.
The bigger question would seem to be what kind of lineup the Sounders use. While the Galaxy won't have another competitive match for over a week, the Sounders will be coming off a match with the Portland Timbers just three days prior and a match against the Colorado Rapids the following Saturday.
