The season is entering the wonderment of multiple competitions, electricity yellows and Mike Fucito goals. He put two up on the Kitsap Pumas in the last round of the US Open Cup, and will likely have another chance to work his Starfire magic against the Los Angelex Galaxy next week. Nestled around the Open Cup are league matches away at Portland, here against the Colorado Rapids and then the Ultimate Date with Mike Fucito - Manchester United. After that comes CONCACAF Champions League play, a tournament where 3 of his 4 goals of 2010 occurred. One could say July will be his time to shine, or glow from the nuclear uniforms.
SaH: Portland first. It is a small field, kind of like Starfire [little longer he says], with Turf. Do you think that gives you guys some advantages with the surface and such?
Fucito: We're going to be a team that is familiar with that, but it is going to be pretty even. Sure we play at Starfire and are used to that kind of size, but I think it will even itself out for both teams.
SaH: You've had some success that size of field
Fucito: I prefer a bigger field, but you definitely get knocked around a little more on a small field. We're good at finding ways to win on that size of surface and hopefully that's what we do this weekend.
SaH: You're Date is coming up against Manchester United. Who do you hope you get to meet for your date
It must be noted here that he is kind of wary and yet carrying a smile and laughs.
Fucito: I don't know. I'm just waiting to see who it will be it. It should be fun.
SaH: It gives you another way to connect with fans.
Fucito: Absolutely. It's always fun to do that. We had something similar, something like that. I went out to dinner; we had an auction and it was fun. It is fun to do that stuff.
SaH: Plus they get to go to Manchester United...
Fucito: See some of the best players in the world. It will be fun.
You can bid for the Ultimate Date with a Sounder to see Manchester United and meet Mike after the game.
