CONCACAF Champions League: Monterrey Vs. Seattle Sounders, Projected Lineups

We know that some of the regular Seattle Sounders did not make the trip to Monterrey, Mexico for tonight's CONCACAF Champions League match. Mauro Rosales, Fredy Montero, Kasey Keller and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado all, apparently, headed back to Seattle to prepare for Saturday's game against the Columbus Crew. Throw in the fact that Monterrey's lineup decisions are equally tough and projecting a starting XI for both sides is next to impossible.

Of course, that doesn't mean we won't try. We're expecting the Sounders to go with a much more defensive look than we're used to seeing, potentially employing two defensive midfielders and a forward tandem of Nate Jaqua and Roger Levesque. We also wouldn't be surprised to see Pat Noonan. None of this makes us particularly pleased, but we do understand why Sigi Schmid is making these kinds of decisions.

On the flip side, Kevin McCauley of FMF State of Mind gave us his best guess at a lineup, and it's very much a guess. It is worth noting that even a weakened Monterrey side put a 5-0 beat down on Herediano last week.

Tonight's game should be on the CONCACAF Champions League website.
