Considering there was 120 minutes of soccer played on Wednesday and many of the Seattle Sounders starters played most of them, there's really no telling for sure what kind of personnel Sigi really has available to him for Saturday's game against Sporting Kansas City. Making matters worse is the forecast which suggest temperatures should be in the low 90s or high 80s with intense humidity following the possibility of thunderstorms earlier in the day. Should be fun!
Rather than try to get inside Sigi's head, we've decided to give what we feel is the best lineup with a realistic possibility of actually playing. Fredy Montero, we think, will almost certainly start. The same could be said for Kasey Keller, James Riley, Jeff Parke and Osvaldo Alonso. The rest, though, are pretty much guesses.
Our thinking is Servando Carrasco gets the nod in the middle, as it appeared that Erik Friberg may have suffered a slight injury on Wednesday. We also think Lamar Neagle is almost guaranteed to start and we're hoping it's with Alvaro Fernandez on the opposite side. Pat Noonan is the other possibility.
We're going to expect Patrick Ianni to be back in central defense, although Zach Scott acquitted himself well on Wednesday and would not shock us there. The same could be said with Leo Gonzalez vs. Tyson Wahl. We picked Wahl, but would not be upset to see Gonzalez.
The other dice roll is at forward where we are sticking to our guns and pushing Sigi to give Mike Fucito a start. He seems like a good matchup for Sporting KC.
As you may have noticed, The Daily Wiz has gone a bit dormant recently. But Andy Edwards, the former manager, was nice enough to give us a projected lineup. Give him a follow @KCSince88. Worth noting, Roger Espinoza will miss the game while serving a red card suspension.
